DESCRIPTION

Ibrahim 'Adil Shah II (r. 1580-1627) was the sixth emperor of Bijapur, a Deccan kingdom in India. He ruled from 1580 to 1627 CE and stretched his borders south to Mysore. He was a talented administrator, a generous supporter of art, an artist and poet, and a music enthusiast.3 He gave his non-Muhammadan subjects, Hindus and Christians, complete religious freedom. During his reign, civil administration was improved, and amicable relations with the Portuguese at Goa, which was within Bijapur's borders, were maintained.
